What this policy covers
This policy covers Palm Hill’s PDF Diff desktop application for Windows and Mac, including the Mac App Store listing named PDF Difference. The Palm Hill website privacy notice describes this website separately.
Your documents and comparisons
PDF text extraction, page matching, and comparison run locally. The app does not send your input PDFs, extracted text, embeddings, or comparison results to Palm Hill or a cloud comparison API. You do not need a Palm Hill account or API key to compare documents.
The core comparison workflow operates offline after installation. You choose whether to export a result or share it outside the app.
App analytics and personal information
PDF Diff does not include in-app usage analytics or send Palm Hill personal information, usage patterns, device specifications, or location data. The app does not phone home to report your comparisons. Store-operated downloads, updates, and reporting are described below.
Local storage
The app stores settings and saved comparison history on your device. Completed comparison PDFs may be retained locally so you can reopen them. Exporting creates a separate file in the location you choose. Removing a retained result from the app does not remove a copy you exported elsewhere.
Microsoft Store and Mac App Store
Microsoft and Apple operate their own stores, account systems, downloads, and update mechanisms. They may collect information under their own privacy policies and provide developers with aggregate acquisition or analytics reports. Palm Hill uses store campaign links to understand which website referrals lead to downloads. These reports do not give us the contents of PDFs you compare in the app.
Website visits and support
This website uses Google Analytics, including events for store-link clicks and sample downloads. Those website events are separate from the desktop app and do not contain your local PDFs. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send. See the website privacy notice for details.
